Devotions For Music Ministers

Devotion For Music Ministers

I will bless the LORD at all times, His praise will continually be in my mouth. My soul will make it's boast in the LORD. The Humble will here thereof and be glad.
Oh magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together
Psalm 34:1-3

Triumphed Gloriously part 1

Exodus 15:20. And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
21.And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

Israel had just been delivered from there evil captors. God had opened up the Red Sea, turned the muddy ground dry and put a shield of fire in the way of the Egyptian army led by their pharoah. The entire camp of Israel crossed the path God made them. When they got across the Egyptian army pursued with a terrible vengence. When they got to the middle of the path on the seas floor God let the waters go and the entire army was drowned. The Hebrews that were seconds before terrified by this army finally felt the freedom God wanted them to have. No wonder they sang and danced and praised their God. If we could have been eyewitnnesses of this celebration it would be hard to believe that hours before they attitude was much different.

The Exodus
The Day Before
It was late in the day. The people of Israel had come to the edge of the Red Sea. With mountains to their sides and the water in front of them it seemed the only logical way to go was backward. Back to Egypt where their families had been slaves for over four hundred years. This wasn't logical either. The night before God had brought death to every first born Egyptian including the son of Pharaoh. Pharaoh had stumbornly kept the Israelites in bondage and slavery no matter what plagues God brought on him until this one. But now that he had freed them he changed his mind. Pharaoh got his army together to take his revenge on Moses and the Hebrews.

Exodus 14:10. And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.
11. And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
12. Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
13. And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14.The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

After every miracle the Israelites had seen God do you would think that their trust in Him would be strong now. You would think the rejoicing of their freedom would result in faith. Israel's worship of God was not whole hearted yet. They knew many other powers that they feared.

Exodus 12:12. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.

When God brought the ten plagues on Egypt it was not just for the sake of devastating the land to make Pharaoh submit. It was also an attack on the things that the Egyptians worshipped. They worshipped the sun and the Nile. They had Idols that looked like frogs and cattle. They trusted in demons to protect their crops. And even considered Pharaoh a god. The Egyptians were not the only ones who worshipped these idols. The Hebrews being inslaved to the Pharaoh and his army and the Egytians way of life learned to fear these idols too. Remember at Mt Sinia they built the golden calf idol. God not only demonstrated his power to the Egyptians He was also showing His people that He is God.
Consider your situtation now and be encouraged. No matter how bad it seems and how far away you feel God is from you worship Him. Remember He has triumphed gloriously over Pharaoh, the grave, and whatever cares of life are trying to discourage you. He has Exodus 15:20.
